While getting ready to repair some typical, over the doorway, cracks I notice something strange. Instead of cracks it looked more like termite trails. In other words they kind of looked like they were pushed up. She told me they had been repaired before and I just assumed they were patched without using tape. Webbed tape was used but these cracks when cleaned out were over drywall seams. It was butted together but not over studs or ceiling joists. I am prepared to tell her that I will have to cut out rock back to wood and make the joints there. Any ideas on how to avoid that and give a lasting repair?

If the surface was "pushed up", I wonder if the lumber around the door frame had shrunk.
How old is the house?
What do you call a boomerang that doesn't work?
A stick.
It is about 30-35 years old. This has happened before she said. I had just never seen it look like that...shifted, but never raised up.
I've never seen cracks like that in a house that old. But I still think it's probably wood movement that's causing the problem.
Hopefully soemone else will jump in here who has some more insight.Did you hear about the dermatologist who started his practice from scratch?
