I've seen some pretty bad pans but I think you got a winner there! How'd you come across it?
Someone asking for help sent me a link to her picasa website.
From the title of the thread I thought it involved no dropping the soap!
But the ad at Home Depot said: "you can do it, we can help".
Is it because the writing on the floor shouldv'e been side to side vs. front to back?
:-)
Was that a HO job or contractor?
Mike, Are you serious? Are you a dunce? You really don't see the problem?Gawd, look at the photos! It should be so friggin obvious! Well, I suppose not everyone is familiar with shower construction, so let me describe it in detail for you. If you look in the bottom right hand corner of each photo, there is a gold colored "18/04/2009" written on the membrane.Gold on the membrane will cause the membrane to break down over time. That could cause the shower to leak within the next 40-50 years. Duh!
Gosh Darnit!
That's what I get for thinking I can hang with the big boys over here...
I'm going back to the Family Handyman...
When I grow up though....you guys just wait!
But remember Family Handyman is what, once a month? You can get a 24/7 education on HGTV!Missed your last question...she hired someone who she describes as a "contractor". But man...even someone who watches HGTV has to know better than that. That membrane is just silly. I'd have been more impressed if he tried to get away with using overlapping garbage bags as the membrane instead of shredding proper membrane like that. That's just sad.
I'm still trying to figure out how you got some pictures from June 4, 2010. That's a good trick.

What you're looking at is the future of shower building, when cleaning technology has advanced to the point at which water is no longer required.~ Ted W ~

Good one!
Unfortunately, that would also mean no more need for plumbers, tilers or for that matter, showers. But I think we'll be safe for a while beyond 2010.
I just thought of another one. It's a shower-space odyssey! ~ Ted W ~

Wow!
The title of the thread suggested jailhouse shower activity but I was sure that was not it because this is not in the Tavern
but it looks like somebody is getting screwed anyways... Please tell me that is a DIY job and not a "pro" install.

"Showering Techniques to Avoid" would have been an appropriate title for you dirty minded little scoundrels!
Whats wrong w/ that? Following up on jobs like that feed my family!!!
If they didn't pay enough to get done right the first time, They will the second!

Has she fired the expert yet?

The communications have been limited, but yeah, the original person is gone. Unfortunately, so is her budget. She's going to try to get someone else in, but with no budget left...who knows. In the past I've stepped in and done pro bono repairs in cases like this. But her communications have been erratic, she has other usable bathrooms in the house, and she lives no where near me...I think she's in Florida.
