I’m in the midst of a bathroom remodel, which like most started simply as a floor tile job, but ended up replacing and enlarging the shower base and tearing out the walls. We replaced a 36″ plastic base with a 40″ Terrazzo base that is like standing on bedrock… fairly easy to install, at least compared to a tiled shower floor. It does weigh over 300 lbs though.
Anyways, I liked the pre-existing Moen shower valve functionality of ‘pull for volume, twist for temperature’. But I want to replace the trim and of course that valve is out of date and out of code, since there’s no temperature safety mechanism. Moen’s replacement seems to be the Moentrol, but I don’t like any of those trims – I want something a bit classier. I’ve checked out Grohe’s temp-static valves, but I’m not a big fan of that concept (who really cares what the actual temperature reading is).
Does anyone have suggestions for valves from other manufactures that operate with the pull and twist mecanism? I don’t really care if it has temperature safety.
Apologies if there’s already a similar thread; I couldn’t find one in the archive.
thanks
