shutter installation for brick homes
wanted to hear how others are installing vinyl shutters on brick homes. while my method seems lame even to myself i was wondering how others do it. my lack of creativity and enthusiam in this area has led me to my method – 1.drill holes in mortor joints 2. fill holes with liquid nails (doesn’t this stuff solve all?) 3. attach shutter by inserting shutter plugs in before mentioned holes. i typically use 6 or 8 plugs per shutter. i’m sure that this isn’t textbook but i installed approximately 20+ shutters this way before hurricane isabel hit our area (southeast virginia) and all stayed put.
thanks,
j.d.

Years ago Jud, when I remodeled, I used to drill the holes, then plug them with a wooden dowel rod, then drive a screw into them. The vinyl shutters have changed alot though. We used to have a wood subframe.
