I’m replacing all the fogged, double insulated glass in my metal frame, house windows. The old units are sealed with butyl caulk that I plan to remove. The glass perimeters are framed with plastic molding that doesn’t seem to serve any purpose besides hiding the glass borders – no inward, spring pressure to speak of, although the profile “pops” into place when inserted.
So I’d like to find a silicone that has good adhesive property on metal and glass and also seals against moisture.
Does anybody have a product suggestion?

Pretty much any silicone caulk will work. Glass shops also have silicone in caulking gun tubes for this.

Everything fits, until you put glue on it.
CRL RTV408. You want non acetic silicone to avoid damaging the seals on the IG units. Dow 799 silicone is also good, but harder to find.

What mike said. Go to a glass store. They have a silicone for this purpose.

DOH! Ignore my comment about "any silicone". I wasn't thinking about the seals. Glass shop'll set you up.

Thanks everybody. I'm headed to the glass shop.
