I think it was done about like that everywhere for many centuries. Looks pretty substantial to me.
I'm thankful for the loyal opposition! It's hard to learn much from those who simply agree with you.
I try to be helpful without being encouraging.
They do alot of things the old way which is pretty cool. Plumbbobs and waterlevels and string is all they use and they are fast with it. Whenever I use a water level I spend too much time getting the bubbles out.
One of my buds is a contractor who's wife is from Brazil - BH or Belle Horizonc or something, my Portuguese is worse than my Spanish - and he's told me lots of stuff about construction down there. He said the typical for middle/upper middle class is small square footage with incredibly fancy finishes, usually marble because it's local and labor is cheap.
They used to think about moving down there, but he and their daughter both have very light complexions and light red hair. His wife is worried about kidnapping.
His nephew has been up here for a summer. He's used to being surrounded at knife-point and having his stuff, sometimes even his clothes and shoes, stolen. It's happened repeatedly.
Hope you are in a rural area or are of a complexion that doesn't stand out so much!
How long have you been there?I'm thankful for the loyal opposition! It's hard to learn much from those who simply agree with you.

Everytime I wobble around on pumpjacks or pass up frame staging, I sorely wish that bamboo grew in the area....
Anyone got that pic of that leaning tower of haybale scaffold?
Just searched for bamboo scaffold and found the sketchiness I think you were thinking of.
