I’m looking to get a single dehumidifier for my basement (15’x35′). I’d like to hook it up to my existing drain line.
Does anyone know what size/rating I should get? The products on home depots page seem to be rated by how much water they can remove per day. I’m not sure how this translates for me. Also would I need to set the dehumidifier in a central location or can I get away with having it in the corner?
Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

A central location is by far the best location, but if there is air circulation any where will work OK. And you need to know how much water you wish to remove. A humid basement would need a larger dehumidifier than a drier one. The size is also related to exterior humidity. Another thing, if your basement is cold, you need a dehumidifier rated to operate in cold environments, or it will freeze up and do nothing. A guess based on normal conditions is 40 to 50 pint capacity. Maybe larger in coastal locations.
