Finishing a basement in a new house. All the load bearing walls are in place but I have to add room partitions and doors. One partition will have a 3’6″ door (will probably put in a 2X6 header with 1/2 spacer)the other will have a 8 or 9 foor opening. How do I size the header for the large opening?

There's nothing to size since there just non bearing walls. You can use anything there if it's just a trimmed opening. If you will have doors in the openings you can put a double 2x6 or 2x8 with a 2x4 on the top and bottom to stiffen it up. The other headers just use 2x4's on a flat.
Thanks
