i cut a board today, thats no big deal but i used my dads 1947 skil worm drive saw, he gave it to me still works great, he built houses for years with that saw, strange how a saw from 1947 still works fine, he only put brushes in it every few years. all metal and heavy, i first used this saw in 1969 as his helper, makes one think what can you buy today that will still be in use 60 years from now.

Mostly hand tools I'll wager. Many of the bench planes I use are over 100 years old. One is from 1867, don't use that much but I have. Many of my clamps and hammers are also from the turn of the last century. Power tools, I have a Milwaukee 1/2" drill all metal housed from the early 40's, heavy as hell but still works fine. The oldest power too I can think of that I use on a regular basis is my 20 year old Makita *" table saw. Replaced the brushes and kept it clean, and beat the crap out of it, still crankin' out the cuts.
The question you ask is a good one.
You can still buy a Skil wormdrive that will last that long. You can't seem to kill em. All the guys on my crew are using them now. Some always did but some liked there sidewinders. They cooked there sidewinders and have been hooked ever since. Hey you got any pics of that old saw? I love antique power tools.
