Hey i tried the D- Mix and general skim coat The d Mix is great i maybe didnt use enough pop as i should have but in general how do i make my skim coat water resistent? If i take my finger and wet it i can get some of the coat to come off. Now i dont plan on getting the wall wet but just in case i get a leak i dont want the wall to sag. If i use setting joint compund instead would that be a little bit more water resistant?

Prime and paint.
I think you should realize that it's more "like" a plaster rather than the rock-hard, cement-like finish of true plaster. However, once it's properly primed and painted you'll end up with a superior finish that doesn't require a curing period or special paints that resist lime burn.
