Have some Velux
curb skylights on the metal-roofed shop. The base flashing is a simple 90 bend, the sides are sidewall flashing, the top is a "back pan" that's got leg 12" up the roof. That and some tin-man skills and you're good to go.
Deck-mounted skylights should come with an appropriate flashing kit.
