Hi All,
Happy New Year. I’m extremely new to the whole construction-thing, having just purchased my first home, a nice fat fixer-upper.
I want to add sky lights to an old addition three season room. I’m providing heat and insulation to make it a 4 season room, but for increased light, want to add two skylights.
The roof is pretty flat. Flat enough that my roofer explained that I would need a special flat roof to be installed to protect against leaks and ice dams. I read through the Velux website and learned that because of my flat roof, I may need this skylight: http://www.veluxusa.com/products/residentialSkylights/skylights/fixed/FCM/
However I can’t seem to find flashing that goes with these. One website said that the installer must fashion his own. Any ideas? Think these are the right ones, or can I get away with normal roof ones?

Most skylite manufacturers make a flashing kit for flant and or low pitch.
Call the company and speak to someone.
Some may require a curb to be built elavating the skylite above the roof plane.
Let your roofer flash it. I would use cant strips and run the roofing up the sides of the curb. On a flat roof you may want to use 2 x 6 or greater for the curb.
Thank you both. I will call Velux and see what they suggest. I appreciate your ideas. I'll probably be asking tons more questions.Best
You have to build your own curb for the FCM models, so consequently, you have to make your own flashing as well. There's no flashing "kit" available for it from Velux. What type of flashing you use is dependent on what type of roof you're flashing it to. If you gave the info on what type of roof you have, I must have missed it.http://www.quittintime.com/ View Image
Oh yeah, one other thing: the FCM is a fairly new model and can be used on slopes of less than 3/12. 3/12 is the cutoff slope on Velux's other models. Prior to the FCM model's introduction, one had to build a 3/12 minimum slope into the curb or use Velux's curb unit if the roof slope was less than 3/12.http://www.quittintime.com/ View Image
