I’m going to be building a small addition real soon and wanted some opinions on the foundation. This will be my 10th addition ( 5yr old business) but will be my first slab foundation to match the house. Usually I build crawl spaces. Anyway I was wondering which you guys thought was better/easier. First I will be pouring a trench footer down to 42″ but after that I dont’ know whether I should lay 1-2 courses of 8″ block/L-shape block then pour the pad or use forms and pour the pad and remaining 10-12″ as a monolithic pour. I’m leaning towards the latter, hoping for some opinions.
Thanks, Chuck

both ways are fine. My house is the first and my garage is the second.
Nobody around here likes those header blocks, and they're espensive<G> Someone's got it in for me, they're planting stories in the press
Whoever it is I wish they'd cut it out but when they will I can only guess.
They say I shot a man named Gray and took his wife to Italy,
She inherited a million bucks and when she died it came to me.
I can't help it if I'm lucky.

$2.45 here, sheesh! Someone's got it in for me, they're planting stories in the press
