SLAB INSULATION FOR RADIANT HEAT
I AM RECEIVING CONFLICTING INFORMATION ABOUT THE EFFECTIVENESS OF CONCRETE SLAB INSULATION. ARE THIN FOAMS AND FOIL/BUBBLE BUBBLE/WHITE POLY EFFECTIVE INSULATION SYSTEMS OR IS 2″ EXTRUDED POLYSTRENE THE WAY TO GO.
THANK YOU!

I would think that a link that is obviously not self explanatory ... deserves an introduction or some explanation of why you are posting it. Your link is a large document ... can you enlighten us w/ your basic point?

I've seen the tarp like foil/foam/bubble used a lot lately, almost looks like the same material as concrete insulating tarps used to trap heat on a new pour - just installed underneath.
Foam tends to crack and split as you walk on it to place the mud -
any reflective insulation has NO rated r-value under concrete.
Generally ... skip the double bubble reflective radiant whatever stuff ... a lot of hype and snake oil. The one guy says ... extruded polystyrene ... good for direct contact w/ ground and some water. Relatively inexpensive. Will not compress under nice even weight like concrete slabs. Pink, blue, or grey board is what it is often called.
Put it under slabs, around perimeters, down exterior concrete walls. Cut it w/ a table saw accurately. Cut it w/ a hand saw like wood. Cut it w/ a hot wire. It is the most effective, commonly used, and economical product you will likely find.
What's the specifics of your application? Radiant slab? Continuous under regular slab? Slab perimeter .... give us more ... turn off the caps lock though ... you don't have to yell at us for us to respond ... just talk. The guys will jump in w/ both feet usually.
Oh ... welcome to Break Time
so far he just seems like the silent type...
