Anyone have any experience with slate paint…. the kind that you can paint onto a wall to create a chalk board?
What brands are best?
Do they really perform like they need to?

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming

Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
Yes. What I used was not called slate paint, just chalkboard paint. Bought it at Lowes/HD. Used a piece of good quality plywood, primed and painted. be sure to sand the base paint smooth, or the brush marks will telegrapgh through. I applied two coats of the black paint, and it worked well. be sure to follow the instrructions, something about cure time, or rubbing chalk across it the first time ... something ... foggy memory. I would not use it for a high volume application, but for a kids room or kitchen message board it works well.

I used some for a restaurant chalkboard. Don't remember what brand. I think I used two or three coats on a piece of luan that was placed in a picture frame. It worked well and held up much better than I thought it would.
