Good morning!
I just rec’d my copy of the Houses Issue.
On page 88, there is a closeup of a (new, I’m assuming) roof tile made to look like a slate tile but actually made of recycled tires and industrial plastics.
Does anyone know the name of a company that manufacures these? They are very impressive!
Any help appreciated!
Thank you!
Kate

Just make sure when you install them you can't get near enough for a close inspection. Was on the second floor deck of a 5+ million house last week (surrounded by a hip roof)...For what it's worth, which may not be much...The tiles looked and felt real fake. Was less than impressed.
yeah, I'm still waiting to see one that looks half decent after 3-4 years

Have you seen the Davinci line of fake slate? Not made from recycled tires, and is a rigid (not flexible) material, so shouldn't curl like the other brands. Any input? I received some samples and was impressed, but would be interested in seeing them on a roof after 10 years.

no I haven'tseems like every thing isa daVinci lately, doesn't it?

my neighbor put one on.all the neighbors ooed and awed over it. 2 years later it looks bad.the amount of fade from one batch to another is what makes it look bad. glad it's his and not mine.larry
