I have a newly acquired home that we are renovating in certain areas. One area in the basement has a wood floor. I pulled up on piece of plywood (it took major effort) and there is a cement floor underneath.
What they did was put 2X4’s on the flat, then plastic over the 2X4s, then plywood. So, the layers go cement, sleepers, plastic, ply.
My question: is this likely to promote mold growth? I thought you were supposed to go cement, plastic, sleepers, ply.
Any have any experience, knowledge, opinion or guesses about which way is better, or if this way is likely to promote mold?

Either way works
