Hi All,
I am planning to put a barn-style sliding door on my garden shed. I was wondering how the door seals against the wall of the shed. Does it just hang in front of the wall with a gap between the door and the wall (or the trim around the door opening)? Does it slide against the wall (or the trim) and if so, how do prevent it from marking up the surface it slides against? Is there some sort of weatherstripping that mounts on the inner face of the door to seal and protect? Thanks for your help.

Poorly. Where do you think the expression "Were you raised in a barn?" came from?
Install rub strips to prevent marking of other surfaces.
happy?
It can be done well.
Hardware stores sell cane bolts (for where the doors meet) and L shaped bolts on a cam-like lever to pull the outer edges to the wall. The newer round track and ball is amazingly superior to the old square track - buttery smooth - and has enough play that you can pull the door in snug w/ the right hardware. As for the rubbing issue, I put small caster wheels on the inside of the doors that run (horizontally) along the wall, then run out of wall just as the door needs to come in tightly...
You could get the bottom track for the sliding door . That will keep it from visiting the roof on a windy day also.
