Been getting nervous the last few weeks.
When my wife got me involved in the bidding war over this house, we won because I could buy without having to sell my other place first. We were the only ones who could.
SO, we moved. Problem? Well my first place was in the middle of a major remodel that needed to be finished before we could market it.
Been workign on it, but have also been away six weeks since Christmas so it’s been going slow. Down to paint, carpet and a little clean up.
Stopped by today to pick up my edger that my son left there when he mowed last week. What am I greeted by? Two neighbors and a total stranger! Each wanting to extend an offer for my house. The neighbors had told friends who came by and fell in love. The strangers have been looking for a house and have been watching mine.
All three for asking price.
Turns out that with the tighter financing, and the new construction slowdown, I’m in just the right price range.
People who would have spent $300K last year are now trying to stay under $200K and there ain’t much around this school district for that price.
Except of course my house………with the new kitchen, windows, doors, floors and three piece crown throughout.
Man somebody likes me!

first person with check, sold. now starting looking for that corvette.
Okay,
Here's the plan.
Between me and Kutztown there is an absolutly spotless 1981 Porsche 911 SC for sale. Complete motor rebuild 5K miles ago. Even replaced the brittle factory head and cylinder studs.
SO I can pick that up and drive it for the summer while I sell my truck freeing me up to pick up something a little smaller, cheaper to operate and easier to load kids in and out of (Hell, maybe even a Tacoma).
Now,
Here's what's really gonna happen.
We'll put that money in the bank for now. I deploy in the fall for a year. My wife will sell my truck while I'm away. The kids will get a Pony, All of my Family seperation pay and imminent danger pay and probably the Combat Zone Tax Exclusion money will all go to a pool or a Mercedes Benz SUV ( used I hope).
Then when I come home I'll either get her payed off 60K mile Explorer...........if she went new M-B or I'll end up with a used Ford Ranger 4 cyl. A friend of mine can get them by the truckload at the auction he works at.
Oh...............I'll probably get a spiffy Corvette poster or maybe even a calander for the garage wall.
Including pets there are four males and eleven females in my house. I can dream, but I've got about 11 more years before I can act.
thats bad, the guy across the road has a 92 vette sitting in the weeds, have not moved in 4 years, I figure I talk him out of it, for you.
I figure the dream is probably better than the reality anyway.
Besides if I keep it alive until I'm like 60, my eyesight will be going and my reflexes slower..............it'll feel like much more of a supercar than it would at 40 and thereby making the pursuit all the more worth it.
owning a corvette is like owning a harley, it doesnt mean you operate it, it just "Yea baby, I have a vette in the garage at home"
At 60 y.o., a lot of cars will feel like a supercar.
You can save your money and buy a chevette.
I had a '93 4 cyl Ranger...I'd go for the Vette. Seriously though, the 4 cyl Rangers are gutless. In the SF area at least, it's kind of dangerous, because you can't accelerate fast enough, especially if you have the bed loaded. If I get another Ranger, I'm going to be looking at the V6(maybe even splurge for the 4L V6.)
I have a 4L Supercab with the 4:10 rear and an automatic.
Good strong engine. With the truck unloaded, it flies. I can do brake stand burnouts with it.
17 mpg sucks though, be warned.[email protected]
Is that 17mpg in town or on the highway?I don't think my 2.3L was much better than that. My '96 Nissan now feels just a bit more powerful, and it's averaging around 20/21 mpg.
I guess I'd say combined. Just can't do much better than that.
I had a 4cyl '92 Ranger Super Cab 5 speed. I think I got around 20+.
I have a '96 Super cab with the smaller 6, gets around 20. My son is driving it now, has close to 200k on the odo.
My '03 is the Edge model 2wd. Great truck, good looks and performance.
It's for sale but the postage will kill ya!
Eric[email protected]
I had a super cab 4 cly with five speed, never saw over 16 mpg. I have a tacoma extra cab now 06 model. drive 200 miles everyday at 90 mph and it see 26 mpg on every fill up

"It's for sale but the postage will kill ya!"Lol...I'll try to find one a bit closer to home. Glad to hear from some one who actually has one though. The EPA mpg ratings are ridiculous. I do like the looks of those little trucks though. and a deeper bed than the Japanese models.
I had a 2003 Supercab with the 3.0 six and an auto. 3.55 or 3.73 rear. I forget. 2 WD.
Never broke 18 MPG.
I'm hanging on to my Nissan for now, trying to justify it with gas prices. I'd love to have the bed space of a bigger full-size truck, 4 wheel drive and the power to pull a boat up the launch, but figure it's for the best if I keep getting 20ish mpg. I haven't found any truck yet to match that average, unfortunately. When are they going to make a hybrid truck that gets the mileage of a Prius, or better yet, the Insight? I'd pay for that.

unfortunately probably never. The battery in either of those is so fragile it is only used in a charge range of 70-90%. never above, never below. A big truck would require too deep of a cycle for that.
I actually was wondering how your situation turned out a while back, glad to hear it all ended well
May I suggest that you do an Ebay-type auction for the place?

I have the book and intend to use this method. It's the best way I've found to sell it yourself and get the best possible price. Best wishes.
