I have searched the archives without finding the help I need.
Background: about a year ago, all four detectors in our condo sounded alarm. No fire detectable, fire dept came, managed to shut alarm off at building alarm entrance. We have an alarm service company that claims no external problem. No problem until recently. These alarm are hardwired with battery backup
Now: one detector begins giving low battery chirp. New battery, same problem.
Took out this detector, bought a replacement. Wire black to black, white to white, yellow to red as before. I pushed the wire back in to the box, began to rotate the unit into place, alarm sounds, just this one. Disconnect red/yellow wire, sound stops. Reconnect wire, sound starts. This does not seem to be a test cycle, it runs for minutes until disconnected.
I have been told that the red/yellow circuit is low voltage to interconnect signal lights. But why is this connection tripping the alarm? Can the problem be upstream/downstream at another unit?
Many thanks to those who know more than I do.

Sounds like a problem with the wiring, or at the central control box.
