We’re in the process of buliding a 4000 sq. ft home in Southern California. We have kicked around the idea of PV solar electricity, not only because of the energy situation out here, but also so we get that warm and fuzzy feeling about being environmentally friendly and all that drivel.
My question is, has anyone used the “solar shingles” put out by Unisolar? It looks like a pretty slick operation–no big ugly boxes on the roof. I am planning a 7/12 pitch, which is within a degree or so of being optimum for our latitude.
Any other pointers you have to offer would be appreciated, as this is the first home incorporating solar features that I’ve built.
