I am starting new construction on a room addition in the big bear california area.
i am thinking of installing a solar tube in the new bathroom which faces the southern exposure, the room size is 9×12.
any comments?

Well, yeah. I've seen a lot of them, and maybe it makes a difference where in the country you live, but I haven't seen one yet that held up for very long. Even stuff in new construction - you go by a house that's been there 3 months and there's already condensation in the thing.
I think they're great in theory, and it could be a mass installer issue (just like EIFS - nobody in the country can do it right . . .but the product performs perfect in a factory!) but I think they're risky at best.

we were a SunTunnel dealer since '97 until they were bought by Velux..
great product.. no problems....
