Solutions sought for ugly sky light well
Hello There:
I am looking to disguise an ugly skylight well that is rectangular in shape, and goes nearly 9 feet from the ceiling to the top of the roof where the skylight is mounted. On the side of the well is an HVAC supply. I’d like to mount something flush to the ceiling to cover the skylight well, yet let light and air move through. I suspect I’ll need to go with something like “egg-crate” material, or maybe an open fret-work panel that can be cut to fit, trimmed out with a nice molding and then attached to the ceiling. When finished, the effect should be something like the grill of an air return and supply on a ceiling. However, I don’t NEED metal, or something really heavy duty. Just something that conceals in a decorative way, but yet is pervious.
Anyone out there with some creative solutions to this problem? I’d appreciate the thoughts of contributors.
Thanks again,

A grid of wood pieces is probably the way to go. I'd consider maybe 1x6 pieces (the wide dimension vertical) in a fairly wide grid -- 6-12 inches. Stain or paint to suit the decor. In some cases it wouldn't need to be a grid -- you could use more of a louver arrangement.
