Any suggestions on how I might do a better job of soundproofing a room that is below my kitchen? The kitchen floor is pre-finished hardwood over 3/4″ advantech. The floor framing is 2×12’s and their is drywall on the ceiling below.
When I finished the room below I installed r-34 insulation and that doesn’t seem to have done any good. I carpeted the kitchen and placed a pad there as well. That seemed to help but I’m still getting complaints that it is unbearably noisy in the room.
Any other suggestions on what might help?
Thanks in advance

Put a layer of homosote under the kitchen carpet.
Do it right, or do it twice.
I've heard that adding another layer of sheetrock on the ceiling downstairs helps. Particularly if you put it on resilient channels.
Especially if you put it on resilient channel.
