I need to find a source for some copper, a couple of different types. First, I’m considering replacing at least 120 feet of fascia with rolled copper and would prefer something slightly heavier in gauge than say the typical flashing, but will be happy to find even some thin stuff if availability is difficult. The roll would need to be about 10″ wide. Then I would need nails for this.
The second type would definitely need to be heavier gauge. I will be forming the copper into discs, sort of like shallow soup bowls of different sizes. I’d like this to be of similar gauge to copper plumbing, or anyway of sturdy weight if that is too thick. This could be in sheets, and they could be as small as 14″ square.
Anyone know where I can look? The first type could be stainless steel, either would look right on this house. It’s a real funky contemporary.
Thanks,
Dog

Not sure. We've got a local welder. I could ask him.

Local supplier here in So Cal has copper in a roll about 12" wide that is available in several heavier gauges. Where they get it I don't know, but it's out there.
Made round hammered bowls in metal shop in Jr High. Labor intensive manufacturing by captive audience. But I remember the blanks came punched out, we didn't have to cut them from sheet goods. Maybe a school shop teacher could tell you where to get some?

Look on Ebay. There's a guy there who ships nationwide, from Kentucky, under the name Copper4Less. His buy it now prices range from $1.87 to $2.10/pound. I just got a local fob quote at $2.25/pound from Industrial Metals in the valley. Also try http://www.copper.org which will link you to Revere. They have a 10,000 pound minimum order, but they'll point you to their local distributors.

Find frenchy,
He had a good source for copper for his house if I remember correctly.
Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, Professionals build the Titanic.
You should be able to find it locally. The standard (in my neck of the woods, anyway) for roofing copper is 16 oz. My supplier also carries 20 oz and can get 24 and 28 oz but, the special order stuff is outrageous. I normally buy multiple pallets at a time and there is a humongus price break vs. the by the sheet price. Try calling a local sheet metal fabricator that specializes in roofing/guttering or a roofing supplier that sells copper gutter. If you don't have any luck, I'd be glad to get you some, but the shipping is high. I'm also in KY. For the thicker stuff, watch ebay. Some really cool stuff shows up there from time to time. I wouldn't pay much over $2/lb right now for any thickness. Good luck.
Hey Thanks everyone,
These leads may pan out. I'll let you know later where I found it.
Any more ideas, keep them coming!
