I am working on a project that has exposed timber trusses, to which will be applied decorative 3.5″ black straps, 3/8″ thick. I need to find something to make it look like those straps serve a purpose, and to hold them on. This is not a structural condition, purely artistic.
The finish is hammered black powder coat. I’m hoping to find short fat lags, about 1.5-2″ long and 1/2-3/4″ diameter. Nails would also be an option, but it has to have a big decorative head on it.
The other twist is 2 of the trusses are in a breezeway/loggia outside, so rust is a bit of a concern.
Anybody have any sources for architectural fasteners?
Thanks in advance.

fake your own?
maybe you could buy regular hardware store lags heat them up and distress the heads with some hammer work then have them powder coated to match your straps.
I bought some iron hooks from this guy (twodogs) off ebay. I really like the workmanship. Anyway, here is his website if you want some custom blacksmith work. You may have to have them powdercoatedf yourself though.
