I’m looking for a new source for 6d, 2″, stainless steel ring shank nails for cedar fence work. They used to be a stock item at one of my local home centers, but no longer. I’ve called the manufacturer of the last ones I bought, GripRite, but they are a special order & I’ll still have to get them thru a retailer, none of whom locally stock them. I’m also trying to avoid having to buy a 25#box, the minimum size special order from the mfr. The 1# boxes I’ve bought before run close to $25/box.
I’m not willing to use galvanized nails. The tannins in the cedar plus rain equal ugly black stripes at every nail head.
Any suggestions?

Welcome to Breaktime.
Filling in your profile will help, especially with questions such as this one.
With all of the ACQ treated lumber being used for outdoor projects, SS nails have become much more commonly found in lumber yards (professional trade). Home centers generally do not carry too much stainless as they do not want the inventory.
I have the luxury of having several yards which cater to pros plus one business who sells every nail known to man.
I would check with the pro yards in your area, also, if near the coast - boat building / repair facilities / marine supply usually have SS or Monel nails. Boat US / West Marine nearby?

Never underestimate the value of a sharp pencil or good light.
Been there & done that with checking out the local lumber yards (within a 25 mile radius, or so). Even checked out the specialty fastener companies. I'm several hundred miles from the coast, so have limited access to those suppliers. Given the level of garbage that passes for residential construction around here, I can't say I'm suprised by not being able to find quality products. I know about the ACQ issue; most of the suppliers don't appear to be up to speed on that either, although the Simpson Z-Max products seem to be readily available, as well as coated screws.
Those nails are a stock item at lowes and hd around here.
I've used this site a few times, always good service...buic

Try McFeely's. I saw ring shank siding nails.

Quality folks, ship the same day they get your order.

Home Depot used to carry them. The local HD stopped carrying them last year, probably because they are so expensive. They had them on clearance for half price, and I bought them up for when I shingle my house three years from now. I would not be surprised if some HD stores still carry them, since their merchandise offerings vary from store to store.
FWIW a second on http://www.manasquanfasteners.com/
You might try a local fence company. I built a fence and bought the cedar from a fence company. They gave me a couple of rolls of aluminum nails that they use. I don't have a coil nailer, but was able to hammer away with very few bents.
I've bought a few grand worth from SwanSecure, and can recommend them. Check their prices vs. the others. Somebody posted on this site a long time ago that the other vendors buy from Swan and re-sell, but I have no direct knowledge of that.
Where are you located? I'm in LA, and I have plenty of 8d left over, IIRC.

Thanks all. I just ordered from McFeely. The 8d are a bit large for my needs. I'm in North Central TX, by the way.

There is a chain that is on the West Coast called "Fastenal"
They carry them in stock, along with screws of all shapes and sizes
maybe they're local to you?
Nobody mentioned Maze, so I will.

Buy a 25# box and quit running to the store so often. Cannot tell where you live, but where I get gas, it is currently $3.15 per gallon.
if u have a coil fed pneumatic framing nailer, u can buy a box of SS ringshank coils nothing like air power save lotsa time, set the depth adjustment and gun them in
