Source of poplar in the Seattle area
Does anyone know a good source of 1x and 5/4x poplar in the Seattle area – preferably on the east side? I’ll be using it for paint-grade interior trim. I’m new to the area and don’t know the good lumber places yet.

There's a great place in Everett called Martin Lumber that's great for all sorts of wood. Real fun to go through. I haven't bought poplar from them, but some bloodwood, cherry, maple, hickory and oak. They can get you some rare sizes, lengths. Good Luck
Well, it ain't on the East Side, but I'd give Compton Lumber a call 206-623-5010.
I remember back in the day, when everything was shiny new. Now, instead of being polished, it just kinda chafes.
Lowes sells Poplar here.
Another vote for Compton, w/ regard to the 5/4 anyway. Blackstock has good service and selection in trim woods, also.
Dunn's the best lumber yard in town, and will have 1x at every location. Get to know the guys at your local store if you're a professional, they'll take care of you.

Thanks for all the replies. This was really helpful. I haven't worked professionally in a while, so nobody's going to want to land me as a customer, on the other hand, I can't picture myself picking through the racks at Lowes trying to find a house's worth of trim and other millwork. Plus, I want to use a lot of 5/4 for pediments, so I think Lowes is out for that, but I haven't checked.
