We are remodeling our master bathroom. The general contractor made a statement that I question. We had picked out some Kohler faucets at Lowes. The contractor said the Lowes models were inferior to what he as a contractor could get. He said Kohler cut costs to sell more at Lowes and his versions were superior. Was he feeding me a line?

That's probably true as far as it goes but it doesn't go far enough. You can almost always get a "better" anything for some price. Compare model numbers and see how he matches up. I tell my customers thta faucets are a good place to save a few bucks during a remodel because they are easy to repalce later with better models. Even the low end ones will last years. The exception are the tub valves, get good ones becasue they are hard to replace.
