splinned rotary hammer drill source
Who is a good source for Dewalt splined rotary hammer drill bits? Brand does not matter as long as it fits my Dewalt drill and is a good drill for the money. What do you think of the large (1 1/2″) corded Dewalt Rotary hammer drill? I bought it used for 250 with about 4 bits and case. Should I keep it and buy more bits as needed or get rid of it? I have not seen any positive comments about the Dewalt rotary hammer drills. I know Bosch and Hilti are better but could not find one for 250. What are your thoughts?
Thanks

Ebay, or the evil pawn shops.
I've used mine for years and it works great. Unless you are doing an awful lot of extremely serious drilling that drill should last you all of your lifetime. All splined drill bits are interchangeable. Bosch, Dewalt, Hitachi, Hilti, bits will all fit your drill (if they are spline bits). Spline bits are the best type to have for the larger drill sizes too ... the SDS max are the only other choice in the larger bits.
you have SDS, SDS Plus and SDS Max..........
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!

Yes as I said IN THE LARGER DRILL SIZES there is only SDS max and spline drills. the SDS and SDS plus are found only in the medium to smaller sizes. They just dont have the beef for the big holes. I really like my SDS plus Bulldog for most work though. It goes up to about 7/8" and is small and handy to keep in the truck. My big Dewalt spline drive is rarely used but a powerful workhorse when it's needed. It will drill up to 2".

Thanks to all of you for clearing up the diff between the different types of bits and the quality of the Dewalt. I got it at a pawn shop like many of my tools. I just love tools. If I buy them used and use them once and maybe do a job for a friend, they have paid for themselves.
