My sister lives in Springfield, IL. Her 50 year old kitchen is built on a slab. The slab needs to be torn up for new sewer. The old kitchen cabinets are custom sizes and may/may not be removed in one piece. I have offered to go down and build new cabinets when the trenching starts. Does anyone know of a place to get quality plywood? Prefinished plywood? 1/2″ melamine for drawer bottoms?

Don't know off the top of my head. But I'll ask Monday at work and see what I can find out.
When ya make it down there give me a holler. I only live a ways south of there, and would be happy to drive up and visit with ya over supper some evening.
JohnT8 also lives in Springfield. I'll give him a bump and see if he has any thoughts.

I don't personally own a gun, but if you are qualified, licensed and registered, I have no problem. [Rosie O'Donnell, anti-gun advocate, justifying the application for a concealed carry license recently filed by her bodyguard]
All the good ol' places I knew 40 years ago are gone.
Even Furmans is gone, which used to be down the road across the street from cozy dog and the bank JohnT8 used to work at. (aka - turn right where the school burned down in 1957<G>)
What you have left in Spfld is Lowes and Menards. My Mom and Brother still lives there and when I went back last month to do some work on mom's house, only place bro kne was those two.
Quick google hit was Bailey's hardwoods, but have never done any business with them.
I'll keep lookin'.You get out of life what you put into it......minus taxes.

Baily Hardwoods - Why didn't I think of that! I knew there was a place - Just couldn't come up with the name. http://www.baileyhardwoods.com
The only English words I saw in Japan were Sony and Mitsubishi [Bill Gullickson]
Hmm... that's a tough one. Most of what we have is just general construction type stuff.. Lowes, Menards, RP Lumber, etc. Easy to find plywood for a subfloor and such, but cabinet grade might be a bit harder to find.
Someone mentioned Baileys, but I'm not sure if they sell sheets of plywood or not. I just thought of them as a custom millwork place (but don't know much about them).
You might just need to get measurements at your sister's house and then construct the cabinets at home (if you have a good source for the good ply up there).

Up here we have Aetna Plywood. All the sheets you could want. I just don't know what I'll need to fix/make on the spot. I want her kitchen to be up and running quickly and its 4hrs to my house.
Thanks to all.
