We live in a 1948 vintage, two story home in Pacific Palisades, CA, only two blocks from the ocean. During the winter months our wood floors creak and squeak much more in the morning since we’ve had a forced air heating system installed.
There is underfloor access to only about 100 square feet of our 1200 square foot home. But that was enough for me to confirm that the flooring is 2″ wide oak tongue-and-groove laid directly over 1″ x 6″ flooring with 3/8″ spacing between the planks.
Any suggestions as to how to quiet the floors from above?

Lets see here:
Buy a new house.
Call a flooring contractor and have him install a new wood floor.
Carpet no it would still squeak under it
Buy a new house or new floor.
