Stained concrete – Ever heard of this
House is about three years old. Has professionally stained concrete floors. Plasterer comes in to do some work on the ceiling. Covers the floors and tapes down the covering with duct tape. When he pulls up the tape a couple days later, up comes the finish – color and all. You can see the line of the tape perfectly for about ten feet.
I feel stupid because I know that duct tape was the wrong thing to use, but I didn’t complain because I thought the concrete sealant and polish would protect the underlying finish, and I was going to strip and reseal the floors afterwards anyway.
I don’t want to go after the plasterer, but I do want to fix these floors. Any ideas?

The only thing I can offer is to restain the stripped areas.
Three years old? If you had the work done, the person who did the staining would likely be able to tell you the manufacturer and color(s) of stain that he used.
Due to the aging and curing process, old 'crete accepts stain slightly different than new concrete. Still, you might be able to feather the straight line and then blend in the new work with the old.
You'd still see it, but most others wouldn't know it's there.
If you're at a loss, Kemico is one of my favorite stains.
I would have expectd the duct tape would pull off the finish, buit not the color. Sounds like somebody took a shortcut three years ago.
I'm sorry, I thought you wanted it done the right way.
