Last summer I build an addition to a front porch using treated lumber. This spring I want to stain the new section white to match the original porch. My concern is that while the old section was covered this new section will be in direct sunlight most of the day. Is there a UV additive to keep the stain from failing? Should I add some type of top coat to protect the finish? Or do I just restain every year? Thanks for your thoughts.

Are you talking about the floor? or railing?
if floor.... Answer C: Restain every year
if you are talking floor, rethink your plan, stain on decking is bad enough, white stain??
railings, are you thinking solid stain?
White on a deck?
plan twice a year
