I’m interested in staining the concrete slab floor in my kitchen. I’ve seen this done lately, and like the look and ease of maintenance. However, I’m not sure how to proceed. First, can the standard concrete slab be smoothed enough to function as the flooring? Second, what product should I use to stain it? The look I want is that of an old weathered floor, reddish-brown in color, transparent (not painted).

A Google search for Concrete Stain turned up 54,100 results.
I have seen ads for Kemiko in FHB. It appears to be a great product, although pricey. You stain it and it appears mottled, old worldly, then seal and/or wax it. Seems fairly easy process
Perhaps someone has used this product?
