I'm holding out for sandstone cabinetry.
A matter of preference, I guess. To me, it is just too 'commercial' looking. If you want SS cabinets, go to a restaurant or power plant.
But you have to admit, they won't need refinishing any time soon.

I was looking for some, but the price is outrageous.

Look for the closing doors or bankrupt auctions.

we have a resturant supply house that will sell public, and even the used stuff is high, about a $1000 for a six foot sink
Ya, sometimes the high prices at the auctions surprise me too.
But then again sometimes a deal will show itself.
I have a three sink 8ft unit I'll be putting in my place someday if I get to it before I'm 80.
One time I kick myself for passing on it but a pizza shop went out of business and did an auction.
The stainless commercial grade hood vent over the stoves didn't get a bid. One would have had to remove it and it looked nasty as it was greased up like an Italian teens first date but the auctioneer offered it for $5.

My 3'x4' hood isn't stainless. Was bright orange when I bought it. $7. Auctioneer was going nuts. I made 3 bids and was obviously going to buy it. He couldn't figure out any good reason to get others to bid it up.
No cleaning to speak of, but it got $50 worth of automotive paint before installation. Same auction where I got all my interior doors. Everything on pallets.PAHS Designer/Builder- Bury it!
On pallets so no removal time. That's dang near priceless.
Quite often those 'building to be demo auctions' are rough in that you only have x amount of time to remove the item before the dozers move in.
That's one reason the prices sometimes are so low. Sometimes unbelieveable.
But one has to be ready for action and have the means for transport of the larger items which shrinks the bidders pool down dramatically.

I've never been to a needs-to-be-uninstalled auction. Probably exists here, but not in my experience. Sure would change my bid. Have to pay you? LOL
Transport is no small issue for large items. Took one look at a 3 drum, power feed, 42" sander and hoped somebody would bid at least $1k so I wouldn't have to figure out how to get it here. Auctioneer tried $500, then $100. I offered $50.
"All right! We have a bid...." It was the only one, apparently too high.
Lacking large machinery at the time, cost me substantially more when I finally found somebody to move it. I guessed 3 tons. Turns out I was light, by 2 1/2 tons (cast iron that occupies 8'x9' of floor). The rollback guy knew better. And told me if I ever wanted to move it again not to call him.
For sure, that bidder pool was shrunk. Only one sucker.
And it ain't gettin' moved again. Next owner of this mountain gets a bonus. Had to build a building for it. The primary reason for the bottom part of my lumber shed.

Yeah, and I got a bonus.
Saturday I visited my machinist about a shattered gear in one of my Cats. He's 80, most of his friends have died. Kids aren't interested. Surprise to me that he had a 3rd metal lathe, buried under junk. Older than I am, it's coming here, along with a metal shaper (18" stroke) and a belt drive drill press. Also a book he claims will tell me what to do with it all. Good thing I've got a large truck.
I have to figure out the electrical problem in his mill. Would have done that anyway.
Put up a building. Tools will find their way there.
BTW, Ohio has lots of those old drum sanders around. My Carey buddy had one for awhile, until he went widebelt. Don't know as they ever die. PAHS Designer/Builder- Bury it!
Ha!
Time to build a building.

Naw, it's the bottom level of my lumber "shed". <G> Across from the sander and planer.
Locally known as "Tom's Folly", likely my last vertical-oriented structure. Won't make that mistake again. Nor will I (again) attempt to elevate an '81 Olds 25 ft.

Happy to amuse. The two friends who were here for the effort got a lot of mileage out of the experience. Not all of my great ideas are.
Uh, you do know that it's post&beam (2 story) above that concrete foundation where the lumber lives.... 83 acres and I built vertical, what was I thinking?PAHS Designer/Builder- Bury it!
I'm thinking you were having fun with the process and once that starts happening projects seem to take on a life of their own and you usually end up just trying to tame the beast in a completion:o)

The 8' stainless sink/drain board we installed in the client house was $240 from ebay. Stay away from restaurant suppliers if you want cheap.
Keep looking. Rez' right. Here, it's almost auction time. PAHS Designer/Builder- Bury it!
I was working with a client on a loft, and the wife wanted all stainless for the kitchen: cab fronts, tops, appliances, everything. Hubby is a surgeon, and he and I convinced her it would look like a laboratory or morgue.

The stainless looks great until you touch it. Not to sound like a clean freak, but it only looks good in the mags or just after you clean it. If you actually use your kitchen to cook in, stainless is not so pretty. One positve point, it won't rust.
i got the stainless refrigerator, cant keep it clean. I wish it was plain white
Put a clear finish over the stainless, this is what the newer units are coming with. Its the main thing that puts me off!
I install custom cabinets for a high end design firm. They spec out stainless cabinets to go with either a white painted cabinet or a dark wood cabinet. Where they can, they use aluma steel (Chemetal)on the inside instead of stainless. You can also make doors with this and mimick the SS look.
