Stainless steel louvers for above freestanding refrigerator
We’re remodeling our kitchen and have boxed in the refrigerator to the front of the body, just behind the door. There is a 3 1/2″ space between the top of the hinge and the upper cabinet. The plan is to use a filler strip there but I know I’ve seen stainless steel louvers to make a freestanding refrigerator look like a built-in (probably in an older issue of FHB).
I’ve looked and looked and have only found a kit for Frigidaire that is about 8″ tall and includes side trim as well. I’m looking for a 33″ wide by 3″ or 3 1/2″.
Does anyone know where I can find these?
Thanks.

Get to a good HVAC supply
and look at their registers. 3-1/2 is a good number for what I"ve used in the past on toe kick heat distribution. MIGHT find something that long, stainless?
Worst case, use some of your fill strip material and break the opening into 2 pcs.
Or, bar supply. The drop drink rail drain grills are about that wide.
I hadn't thought about drain grates - that's a good idea.
It looks like they don't make them narrower than about 4 inches though.
I know someones makes (or made) louvers for this specific purpose but I hate the thought of reading through all my back issues in the hope of spotting that.
Check through this one. Seems there's no size restraints.......
at least I couldn't find one-then again, I wasn't going to look too hard..............

ss louvers
check quickrain.com or is it quickdrainusa.com? Oh, just type in quickdrain
how did it work out?
I'm considering the exact same thing... how did it work out for you?
Pics?
Thanks!
Nope - I ended up going with a section of light rail turned on edge.
I found a place that could nmake a custom SS grill - but at over $300, I didn't feel it was worth it.
ss louver
anything ss is expensive, try brushed aluminum, there are some floor registers, Maybe install them in series
SS Grill
I'm having the same situation, and a grill is my only option. Where did you find a place to fabricate the grill?
Look in the yellow pages
I found a place under metal working and machining, that had a big hydraulic press for doing louvers. Custom car shops should be able to give you a lead locally.
We were doing them in a car hood to help keep things cool.
A flat peice of stainless would have been way easier and less expensive. I spent $2.50 per louvre.
