I participated in a discussion on SS nails for a power nailer a while back. (maybe I just lurked) Despite my searches I can’t find the link. I checked out McFeelys, but that wasn’t it. This site also had the nailing schedule. I need the 3-1/4 .131 spikes for outdoor deck installation. Anyone remember?
Thanks.

They actually supply to places such as McFeeleys.
Try Manasquan Fastener in NJ, they have an amazing selection of Stainless nails. Quick shipping too.

I have nothing to gain from mentioning this -
Swan Secure may still have free shipping and ordered are shipping out usually on the same day.
FYI I just bought some SS nails for Manasquan, and the nails were Swan Secure Nails!
They did ship fast though, got the nails in 3 days on my doorstep. Paid for shipping. Will try directly from Swan next time. I'm assuming there's got to be some markup from Manasquan or McFeely's for the same Swan nails.
I am totally fascinated with the thought of stainless steel 12D gun nails!!! I had no idea....
The SS 12D's are 1000 for $100. 10 cents a nail.
That is 430 Nails per 100 Sq foot based on 16" OC Joists per the nail crib notes on one of the sites. You don't think about it when it is 50 bucks per 2500 in the brand name galvanized version. I'm all for quality but I'm afraid that is gilding the lily in my application.
It is nice though that they have the SS nails in 1000 piece packs. Wish Paslode would break up those big boxes they sell. Honestly, a 5000 pack of 2-1/4 inch galv nails is more than I can use. I've used 15,000 so far putting up split shakes, but the last 4500 in my current box could be around for a while. If there was more flexibility in package sizes I'd use many more varieties. Boy finish exterior nails.. That would be a treat! Jack of all trades and master of none - you got a problem with that?
Any of you ever try http://www.halsteel.com/ ? I came across them when I was looking for nails for my Paslode 350 some time ago but never ordered any.
Used to shoot nothing but Halsteel in the framing business...best framing nails I ever used. Plus, every once in a great while you'd find these cool T-shirts at the top of one of their boxes!
I've used 3 1/4 X .131 SS spiral-shanks for some stuff before, and was incredibly impressed. Bought them from these guys, who were the best...

Just one more source to add to the list

seemed to have pretty good pricing last time I checked, have never bought nails there, but bought an 18guage Paslode Trimpulse from them when they first came out - good price and quick shipping

Well, fyi, many online suppliers, which will remain anonymous, will play the order juggling game. Many are also non-stocking resellers.
They will attempt to accumulate enough orders before contacting their supplier (Swan Secure is the big mama) so they can earn that extra point or two on the volume purchase.
If you order something that they don't receive many orders for, then your shipment is delayed, or in their lingo, "backordered".
I ran into this on an order for stainless ringshank nails for Senco/Paslode - kept getting delayed week after week.
Got fed up and called Swan Secure and had it within days with no shipping charge.
Thanks I hit both Manass...... and Swan... as well as http://www.stainless-nails-brads-staples.com/Framing_decking-clipped_33F8.htm. All were a bit rich for my blood.
In the midwest I wonder if I really need the SS nails. With a 1000 sq Foot deck it appears I'll need over 500 dollars worth of paslode IMCT compatable nails (4500 nails). Wow! By comparison it is less than 100 bucks for Galvanized 12 D (.131 dia & 3-1/4").
I'm rationalizing that the deck will decay before the nails will. On the coasts it makes sense but here in the rust belt things decay a bit slower.
Thanks for the leads.Jack of all trades and master of none - you got a problem with that?
