Stainless Steel Posts for Custom Shelf?

homebaseboston | Posted in General Discussion on June 13, 2002 05:32am

Anyone ever have any luck finding stainless steel posts for shelving?  What I’m trying to do is find 4 brushed stainless posts I can install floor-to-ceiling in a custom bath to receive 4-5 glass shelves.  So I’d need not just the posts, but a way to attach the shelves.  Any ideas?

Brian

Any metal fabricator could likely locate them for you. I had one make a custom ss backsplash.

Another thought is extension rods for a hanging light fixture. I have some Kichler lights w/ 1' and 2' brushed nickel extensions, threaded on each end. They'd make awesome shelf supports. Just figure out a threading at the top and maybe an o-ring or washer to support each shelf. Just a thought.

For an off the shelf solution (all puns intended) look and see if you have a "containers and storage" store in your area. The one that we have localy sells Ackro plastic bins, closet organizers, kitchen cabinet organizers, etc, etc, and baker racks.

Any of the bakers racks are sold piece meal and you can get the tubes in different sizes. Have then check with their supplier to see if they have floor to ceiling ones.

Also check with restraunt supply companies.

We have used them in a kitchens before. The cabinet supplier got them us. But I'm sure any machine shop could make them.
