I have been doing research on stair construction and have bought several books on the subject. So far I have not found any references to the way ever single new house stair frame is made. Three carriages(or stingers) and ply-wood temp treads .Sometimes the client knows for the on set of construction that the stairs will be soild wood and sometimes not. It seem that very little thought go’s in to how the stair will constructed untill it get close to the time to put them in. I have seen how most stair are attached to this type of frame and it leaves me thinking that there has to be a better way. A way that doesn’t allow squeakes and allows for exspansion and contraction . Does any one have ideas?
