Well I finally got the dang thing done, couple more coats of tung oil on the lower rail & woo hoo.
Railing & newl post made out of Jatoba AKA Brazilian cherry—- Milled out of 8/4 x 8 x 10′ s2s.
Oh yeah the neighbors just loved me runnin that through the planer after work.
Pickets made out of Hickory left over from the floor face glued then milled down to 2 & 1/2″ x 5/4, & as far as the router burns the DW said keepem adds character woo hoo that made that part easier.
Post caps are Rainforest green Soapstone left over from my counter tops.
Yup another one that made the neighbors happy when I was runnin those through the router table.
Bottom rail is supported by a 1/2″ sch 40 brass nipple & cap— stuck in the drill press & polished away.
The 3 holed trianguler solid brass wall plate—- well I don’t know what exactly to call it , they were supports for a big mixing valve I put in at work.
They were rough cast brass—– I haven’t polished metal since an aluminum casting in jr high metal shop.
& yes dear I will get to the window & door trim next so I can put the baseboard in.

Very nice work. Impressed, to say the least. Good thing there isn't any plumber's crack laying around the kids!
Very nice.I get paid to do carpentry. That makes me a professional.
If I work on my own house does that make me a DIY?
"I think I got a bit carried away sanding the rails."Ibet they are great for sliding down!!!

Bill, very nice work. I really like the contrasts in the different wood.
I don't usually like the look of mitred corners on a floor (kinda prefer the "woven" look of just squared off boards) but I really like the way you did it with the three strips in the border. I may try it that way on the next floor.

Thanks
I was gonna go for the woven look first then my floor guy talked me into the large miter.
Funny side note---- When I got home from work, I started laughing bout all the pencil marks on the 12" Dewalt scms handle, was just about to tell Dino yer as bad as me about holdin a pencil while cutting.
Then I noticed that it was my saw that he was using.Do you look to the government for an entitlement, or to GOD for empowerment. BDW
Very nice! Doesn't that Jatoba make the planer shriek? The soapstone caps are cool, and the flooring detail.
Forrest
Yup planer shriek, jointer groan, table saw whine, & router scream.
The soapstone just killed my router bit.

Beautiful work...Are you a plumber posing as a carpenter or a carpenter posing as a plumber. I bet you are really a carpenter, but like that plumbers $$$$.
After seeing that, I bet your plumbing looks good too!

Very nice pipe job Bill. Always nice to see someone who appreciates fine piping. My last boss didn't understand the concept of plumb and level, if there were no leaks he was happy. I did a chiller system in type k awhile back and the insulators loved it, the boss said it took to long! Beautiful work you've done there...!
Thanks.

That looks like a lot of money in a small space. What are those red handled valves that look like a ball valve?
Lots of job security there too...you're the only one who knows how all that works!
Nice Job!
Definitely a lot of money.
We have 8 of those stations in the building.
Now they have walls around them & an access door. I get the pleasure of going into them & rippin out the little eemax heater & put a 10" x 36" shell tube heater that might actually work to keep the zone hot.
Red handle valves---- bad lighting there actually orange--- those are victaulic¯ butterfly valves, works the same as a ball valve pretty much.
As far as how it works well I get to give a video starring me to the building superintendent on how the stations work.
Pretty simple actually they are low/high flow pressure reducing stations, with a recirc & heater to keep the zone hot when there is no demand.
Depending on which location the mains that come into the top of the zone can have as little as 95psi or up to 230 psi, the outlet is 50 psi.
Each station is at the top of the zone that consist of 5 floors so at the bottom the psi is about 75 psi.Do you look to the government for an entitlement, or to GOD for empowerment. BDW
Very interesting work! Where does the pressure get boosted to 200+ psi? Is there a big pump on the ground floor where the main enters the building? What do you use for anchors to hold all of that track to the concrete wall?
Anchoring to concrete we use quickbolts
Anchoring to the double 5/8" sheet rock wall toggler
The retail entry pic shows where the water comes in I think in the corner of that pic is my small booster pump that provides cold water up to the 19th floor & below.
Consist of a 7hp jockey pump & two 15hp pumps, I have an identical set up in the hotel boiler room that pumps the HW up to the 19th floor.
My big ol pump is two rooms down from the water entry pump skid 8.5' x 9' x 12' high
Pump on left is 25hp jockey pump then two 60hp pumps to the right.
& these were so much fun to set they came with motors on a separate pallet, setting a 600lb motor is alot of fun with double chain fall set-up.
110psi city pressure bumped up to 290psi to get water up to my condo boiler room on the 42nd floor. here is the pump pic.

Dang! Why'd you have to post that picture? Now my wife will want one of those! ;)

She would say hey build me one of those.

Nice job Bill, like the polished brass, keeping the plumbers spirit in it.:-)
My railing is the opposite, I've got more pipe and less wood.
Nice
