I have a remodel where the stairs from the main floor to the second floor are constructed from 2×10’s, covered with carpet. They wnat them in hardwood, and I plan to use solid treds and risers. I’m not sure how to make up the difference in thickness between the 2×10’s and the solid treds. It would seem that shimming the new treds up to maintain the current rise is the best way, But the edges of the stairs are exposed, so I would have to trim them out. Any others suggestions ? Thanks.

Source control, ventilation, and filtration are the keys to healthy indoor air quality. Dehumidification is important too.
