AMAZING.. glad to see my votes finally paid off.. unlike all those elections :)
also glad to see kitchen box builder guy didnt win. congrads Mr. StrGuy
Wohooooo!
And well deserved, too.
congradulations stan i knew you would win.
CONGRATULATIONS Stan!!!!
A clean and well deserved win. My faith is restored. Hope B. Mike and Brad will stay on with us. For those who have fought for it Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know.
Great Job Stan. It is always good to see the more deserving contestant win! You have demonstrated that you don't have to be a politician to win. Your humbleness and support for all your fellow competitors is an example to us all.
.
Sure it did. It caused scores of people from here to place the dewalt contest on every site they visited and to email all their contacts.
=)
Difference is, because of Stan's honorable position on it all, the links I sent out said not much more than "pick the coolest project and vote" with a link to the dewalt site.
Congratulations to Stan. He deserves to win, on the merit of the way he competed as well as for his work.
I feel bad to see any negative comments aimed toward the other contestants. They all created beautiful products and were gentlemen throughout the contest.
They did nothing we didn't do here - use some means of a network (in our case a forum sponsored by Taunton) to spread the word. If others had bigger networks, more power to 'em. Dewalt entered them in the program, so they were qualified.
My congratulations to all of the contestants, and to those who have joined the Breaktime ranks, "Welcome".

YES!! Contratulations, Stan!
I agree about negative comments but not quite sure all were playing by the rules. Telling people to create extra sign-ins to vote might have been over the top. Using a company wide network with a vote for me and no "please look at all and vote your conscience" like Stan's caveat might not be kosher (but I did not see the e-mail).
I understand competing to win. I do fault DeWalt for not following the contest guidelines for project work. All's well that ends well.
They are all winners in my book and just making the final 17 is a pretty darn great accomplishment.
Now if I just win with one of my many votes. (;-)
I sent two proxies to Stan for my wife and sister who both looked at the projects and made their unbiased/unprompted decision. For those who have fought for it Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know.
Hard to tell whether Dewalt ran the contest this way on purpose or because of poor planning. More voters = larger list of contacts.
More contacts are good if they are worthwhile contacts. Thousands of insurance company employees might not fit their target but then again they may. Like I said in another thread my faith is restored. I am not too sure why they gave each member three votes per day. Guess it was a carryover from the vote early vote often.
I backed Stan not because he was here or another rotary wing aviator but the depth and execution of what I would define as true trim carpentry.
I was saddened by some of the negative comments and thought they detracted considerably and were certainly not what Stan would advocate.
Again I lift my glass to a class winner and gladly welcome the other two contestants to the BT zoo, I mean forum.
For those who have fought for it Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know.

I didn't get in as many votes as I'd like but I'm glad they helped.

Well, I guess I may have made that boast..........and as a man of honor, I'll fillful my obligation.
The downside-or rather the otherside-I've got to get the other carotid cut open tomorrow morning. IF, they don't borrow a vein this time-my modility might be expedited. If they do borrow, ugh, then I'll use that ploy to get the girls a little closer.
I might get lucky for a pose and if not, then I'll go with the I SPY style. Did you not mention (or was that some other CIA operative) that you might be able to borrow me some special ops camera?

Congrats Stan, I agree, the Gyro should get a paint job with maybe a 17 on the side
Everyone- Thanks so much for all the support and the kind comments all throughout this contest. I will never ever forget the support from this website. It is OUR win in my book.
Today will also never be forgotten. I was on a jobsite going to run a lot of handrail and fittings. I got one freakin joint done....but I am not complaining. My cellphone was constantly drained from endless phone calls..man I cant begin to explain how I would be talking and someone else was ringing.
I ended up in my truck with the charger plugged in. I sat by myself and read all the nice comments and then got to my e-mails. I found myself tearing up several times..and just so thankful living these moments. I wish I was more fluent in the English language to properly convey my feelings. But I think you get the drift.
From a very humbled heart...I give my deepest gratitude to all of you for thinking I could win this. I still say the comments from all over are worth more than winning....but for once I got to have the cake and the cherry on top.
God bless you all and I wish you all a very merry Christmas!
Stan
And a Very Merry Christmas to you too Stan.
Congratulations Stan!I started out voting for your stairs and ended up voting for you.You earned the win, enjoy!Jim

congrats... justice was done.... you and your skill set are what any tool manufacturer would want to point to and say "see what you can do with our tools "
well deserved... and hope my votes helped....
I wouldn't have voted like i was on a mission... if your project wasn't the best
I hope this is just the start of rewards deserved for work well done

Remember Stan I dont take credit card anymore :).Seriously, I think you deserved it and I wouldnt have voted otherwise. ALL the projects were good and it wasnt an easy choice. Good job.Feliz NavidadWhere there's a will, there are 500 relatives
Congrats, I too voted a few times.
Stan, you obviously have patience and determination. One cannot build glue-up railings and stringers without these traits.
I built a few acoustic guitars from scratch to prove to myself "I still got it!"
Stan, You got it, man!

Congratulations on a job well done Stan. You're an inspiration to us all -both personally and professionally. Thanks for sharing your passions.
I still may own a Gyrocopter some day, but I doubt I'll be trying any curved stairways anytime soon.
Very nice Stan. Congratulations!!No Coffee No Workee!
Congratulations to Stan He THE MAN! Nothing wrong with the cabinet box builder he beat but the work Stan does far and above what most do as carpenters. Stan is a first class craftsman.
Stan,
My heartfelt congratulations to you. This has been an inspiring and memorable event, for many of us on BT. Thank you for including us and making us proud.
Sincerely and Respectfully, Peter
The best project did win, glad it was yours. Congrats, doode! Now you see this one-eyed midget
Shouting the word "NOW"
And you say, "For what reason?"
And he says, "How?"
And you say, "What does this mean?"
And he screams back, "You're a cow
Give me some milk
Or else go home"
I loved looking at the accompanying photos of the project. That is really a beautiful set of stairs! Very graceful and flowing. It's hard to believe one man has the skill and vision to make such a wonder. You certainly threw a challenge at any other woodworker, Stan.
Congratulations on winning the contest.
Norm
Congrats Stan.
