My son-in-law just purchased bamboo flooring for his house. Can we install this using a standard finish nailer instead of renting a flooring nailer?

First, I'd make sure that your bamboo is scratch/dent resistant to your liking before you put it down. There are some cheaper grades of bamboo floating around that leave people less than thrilled at the way pets/kids can scratch it up.
Couple of threads for your interest on fastening it:

What fasteners do the instructions call for?
You should be able to, if you can set the depth deep enough on the nailer to set the heads below the surface. Most nailers don't set deep enough, because you can't get the nose deep enough into the notch above the tongue. If the head protrudes at all, you can't get the groove to mate up right.
But try it on a piece and see how it goes.
Thanks to all. I think I'll give it a try and see what happens.
