Staples or nails for Bamboo Flooring ?
Looked at some old posts on flooring. I see some recommend staples. I have an old manual porta nailer that I have used plenty on 3/4″ flooring. Need to lay 300 sq ‘ of 5/8″ bamboo, should I just use old trusty or rent a pneumatic stapler?
Boards are the short 38″ variety, I realize I cant nail too close to ends will staples hold that much better?
Subfloor is new 3/4″ T&G ply, on 11 7/8″ I-joists @16 centers, I will make sure to hit every joist.
Should I worry about it or just start nailing?

I've only used and been totally satisfied with an air flooring stapler on bamboo.
You need to back the pressure down and use the right foot pad for the 5/8 ths.

Does an air driven fastener snug the boards up as tight as the old back driven nailer??
Also, are they a lot easier on the arm/ back/ shoulder? I aint 25 no more.
Thanks
Way easier on the user.
You can get the staples in with less hassle, nearer the walls.
Yes, will pull in and hold down to the subfloor well.
Remember to test air pressure b/4 starting. Seems high 70's on the poundage if I remember.
AND, when you roll the refrig. back-do it on some 1/8'' masonite. Bamboo while pretty hard will crush by big #### 'ed reefer wheels.A Great Place for Information, Comraderie, and a Sucker Punch.

I am putting 600 sf+ of bamboo now (it's from Costco) no problem with 15 gauge staples. You do need to back off the pressure to about 70# otherwise the tongues split too much, even solid HW splits so don't worry just try to keep it to a minimuim.
If you have a harbor frieght near by you may want to try this one instead of renting:

I don't have it, I have a Stanley but it looks worth a try. CAMBELL HAUSFELD has one too now.
The HF near me gives sale price even when not on sale if you ask. They have staples at a good proice too.

Thanks for the link Wally
I will check price on rental but I know I will never get it done in 1 day. May just end up nailing with the old trusty manual one and take my time. Then when my arm seizes up I will order the pneumatic.
