Hi,
anyone install a steam generator in a house? Any issues we should be concerned about? We plan to put one in the basement of a new house so we can rough in the plumbing and deal with the electrical when we actually get to building the steam room. Any specific steam generator dealer/brand you recommend?
thanks for your help

You would be well served to make sure that the steam generator is located where it is easily accessible and in such a manner that its partial or complete replacement can be effected without excessive suffering. Usually this service is done from an adjoining room best accomplished by way of a generously sized and strategically placed access hatch. If the location of this is dimly lit consider having a service light and possibly a GFI protected receptacle close at hand. This consideration is similar to any mechanical system in a house.
I would also say that some consideration be made toward obtaining a generator with well thought out and effective provisions made for removing the scale buildup likely with any but the very softest, least mineral laden, of water supplies.
I had one in my last house. It was great...I had it in the laundry room on the wall, that was just the other side of the shower...Only problem was the shower was small for the size of the generator and the thing would drive you out..If I had the same install again I would replace the timer switch with an air operated switch in the shower so I could regulate it better...Also use a big exhaust fan for after use...
