I have been asked to build a steam shower on an exterior wall and include a fixed window with decorative glass in the shower. I am looking for ideas on glass, thermal breaks, framing materials, techniques, etc.
The current window opening in the wall were the shower will be located is about 36X44.
I am located in New Jersey and concerned about condensation etc. especially in the winter.
Thanks for any input or ideas?

Hi Jake.
If it was me, Id either install an all vinyl, insulated thermopane dead light window( a vinyl replacement window such as a Simonton 5500 series) ( I have done this technique before with success in bathrooms where a window is existing in the shower area) with opaque glass....and Id trim out the interior side using PVC ( Azek) exterior grade trim. Or, I'd install a glass block window unit that would be pre-built from the Mfg using silicone adhesive rather than mortar for the joint lines. I'd shim it in place using plastic shims, instead of mortar, caulk all perimeter gaps with NP-1 urethane caulking ,and then I'd use PVC trim to dress it up visually in a picture frame style motiff.
Any condensation that may gather on either of these 2 types of windows will cause no harm to the window and can be easily wiped off .
Just my 2 cents.
