We’re looking for a source of very plain sheet metal, white painted kitchen cabinets. Are there any manufacturers still producing them?

all i know of are the old 1950 youngstown cabinets that are still around. are you looking for a whole new kitchen or just adding some cabinets to existing.i have about 30 of the youngstown out in the shop that i have picked up in kitchen remodels, they are the best shop cab. around. i had a customer that had me take all the doors down and have them media blasted and the powdercoated them white.for what they spent i thought they was nuts, but when all done with new hardware it was a great looking kitchen all done in black and white. larry
hand me the chainsaw, i need to trim the casing just a hair.
I don't know if they are still produced. Availability I have a hint on. Check at used and surplus building materials shops. Habitat for humanity, which typically won't use any used materials on their projects, has shops which redistribute used, but still good, materials for reusing elsewhere.
I was in one of these shops and noting that there was a great stacks of steel cabinets of the type popular in the 50s. Word was that they are out of style so they show up a lot but they are also, short of backing a truck over them, indestructible and nearly infinitely reusable. Too nice to throw out but still not stylish they go cheap.
Might have been FHB but some building magazine or such had a feature on a kitchen project where they were reused. Trick was taking the cabinets to a auto body and paint shop and having them professionally cleaned up, touched up and painted in automotive enamel. Professionally done they looked great. I don't think they would look half as good if done on-site or piecemeal.
There's an entire kitchen for sale on eBay. Item number 6023906581
"1950's Pink Metal Kitchen Cabinets No Dents Needs Paint"
I tried to paste the link but it didn't work.
I built a set of cabinets for a couple that had metal cabinets in the kitchen.
The women of the house had did a lovely faux paint job on them. When I took them down and seen the sides they were that 1950's turquois color, man they were sharp!!!

If near central IL, my brother wil probably give you the 'Hobart' set from sears my parents bought in the mid 50's -- they need paint too, but are white.
Then again, my brother got upset with pop before he died for selling an old walnut soap making table for less than it would have gone for on ebay.
You might consider searching for them online in the UK or Europe. Most home that I have been in there have metal cabinets in the kitchen. The only downside is the shipping cost, but you can keep it lower if you put them on a slow boat.
I have an 8 ft "kitchenette" in my basement I'd be willing to part with!
the one piece counter top/sink still has the faucet still atached ... (I think) ... been under "work bench" storage for a coupla years ...
a run of base ... and a coupla uppers ... with the "drain board top".
real collectors item ...

Well, there's laboratory cabinetry such as Duralab--beautiful but costly. It wouldn't take much digging around on the web to find suppliers of old St. Charles cabinets. Home Depot Expo carries a very nice line of brushed stainless steel cabinets.
