I am looking for ideas on how to conviently store steel form stakes. I have a mixture of 16″, 20″, 24″, and 30″ stakes, about 80 total. I have been storeing them in 5 gal. buckets, but the buckets go out of round pretty quick, and are a pain to move around the shop.
I ussually only take what I think i need to a job site so maybe 25 to 30 go out at any one time. The rest of the time they are just knee knockers.

Old inner tube makes a nice sleeve. Cut it in half and tie one end off or staple it shut. handles the weight, the handling and rough conditions, and washes right up. You can leave the bag horizontal outside and not worry too much about the stakes as long as it's not right down ion the freezing mud.
Excellence is its own reward!
send this in to tips'n'tricks and send me half the payout, LOL

Just to offer some variety...you could put some 12" lengths of 4" or 6" pvc pipe in the buckets...as many as it takes to make a snug fit. That would give the bucket more rigidity and give you a way to organize the stakes by length.
military shell cases, just pick the right length
Dug around out behind the shop this morning and came up with a solution that follows everyones thoughts.
I found two 10' section of 6" DWV and 4 end caps for them. I'll clue end caps on cut lengths of pipe to match the stake lengths, and press fit new end caps on the open ends. A couple of 2x6 with half rounds cut in them will become the storage racks for the stake tubes. Two pyrimides of six tubes each should handle the small quantity of stakes I have. If I drill a couple of holes, and add a rope handle to each one they will be easily loaded and unloaded when needed.
Thanks to everyone.
Sometimes all it takes is a prop in the right direction to come up with a solution to an irritatingly simple problem.
