There’s this stereo store located in Portland Oregon on 82nd street that I had bought electronic parts from STEREO KING. On 05/27/04 I went to get a cd player install in my car. I asked them how much it would be and to me the price was fair even though they increased the price by $30.00 dollars because a special device was need it. The car I have is a Honda Civic that I bought a month ago from the date I took it to get the stereo install. One of the installers took the car and when they were finish I proceed to pay them the amount of $109.00usd.
I went outside and noticed a scratch on the back left door, a 3″ scratch on my paint. Before my car was taken to their warehouse to install the stereo I had inspected the things I had inside and also the outside. I take good care of my car that I check everything before I get in it to drive it. I parked in the outside lot and no cars were around me when I got there due to it was a rainy day and not a lot of customers in the shop.
I went back inside and ask the gentleman who had taken care of me that there was a scratch in my car that was not there when I got there. He brought the installer outside and of course he deny done the damage. I was very upset. The owner came out and show me where they had installed the stereo. Regardless of that to me the scratch was fresh and even one of the guys agreed with me.
In my point of view I’m thinking he somehow did it with a screwdriver in his toolbelt. The scratch was just perfectly done with a pointy object that is impossible that another car door would have done it because of where the scratch on the door is located.
I decided to write this because the owner didn’t care and he just went off on how good his installer is. Nobody is perfect and accidents happen.
I will no longer do business with this STEREO KING STORE and will tell all my friends to visit a different electronic store.
I wanted to share this information because I wanted to relief my anger and get my feelings known.
If you live in the area and decide to stop by any of these stores to get any electronic install make sure you they see that your car is in perfect condition and don’t get a similar story.

I was thinking if you could get stereo kings e mail or web site and post it we could all e mail them and tell them how we will never do business with them and when they see e mails from all over the country and even the world they might just reconsider there stand before they fall. there is a certain kind of power with these technologies and its about time we used it. dogboy, Maine
Personally, I think I'd leave out your location. I doubt they'll be too rattled if someone in Maine swears never to have their stereo installed in Oregon ;)
I know that my being from Maine is nothing but for that co. to think that a customer of theres can reach out to so many and so far is the point.
most people try to hide there poor work ethics by keeping them quiet. some by working in lg citys where the next customer is right there as soon as (you) go out the door after they rip you off and they just say to themselves there goes another one.

I'm sorry you had the problem with your car but you had to know that store was preying on the unwary and unwitting customer. I've been in that store and from the equipment I saw, it was a lot of lower end stuff. That and the store itself isn't an icon of customer service. I walked out after five minutes because they didn't have anything which interested me and not a person working there even bothered to say hi or can I help you.
Their ads run in the thrifty nickel and most of the junk they sell is made in Taiwan. These might offer a clue to the caliber of establishment you select next time. 82'nd street isn't much more than a long, used car lot with hookers and drunks walking past at all hours. They don't call it felony flats for nothing... I hope complaining made you feel better but next time, find a little better place to do business with.
Friend took her suburban Mercedes to a car wash where they wash it and clean the insides too.
She gets back in the car and notices some knob by the dash is broken of and rolling around the back. She complains and gets the same runaround from the management although it's obvious Egor washman is a rough handed knucklehead.
No competition means the place is always full up in wait but it's still a low quality dive place. Told her better to wash her black paint herself by hand or find a brushless place.
Those kind of places have no concern of service and customer complaints.
kod-Welcome to Breaktime. Non-construction topics usually go under the Woodshed Tavern instead of General Discussion as this is a homebuilding forum. The tavern is a place to let loose of what ails you as you down an ale or two.
Cheers
I agree Homewright. I have had 1 stereo installed there. Nuttin special. Use Magnolia now and I am very happy. Felony Flats is right. I always got the impression they were casing my car for later.
because the owner didn't care and he just went off on how good his installer is.
I learned a long time ago (the hard way) that any place that does not come out & inspect (and record) your ride first, and check how all of your electronics work, before starting, is just asking for trouble. That trouble works both ways, of course, but usually the consumer is the one who takes the shorter end of the stick.
Even if it is only the installer who does a walk around, that, at least, shows some level of care. Sure, he's gotten 8-10 cars aday into the bay past the bollards, but that does not mean today might not be The Day. Or, the power lead to the dashboard is cut (or your passenger power window switch didn't work, before, you came in) . . .
So many things that could go either way.
That being said, you are still right to gripe about this bozo's treatment of you. Maybe he doesn't understand how much business is by referral--maybe now he'll learn.
Small claims court. If nothing else, just for the principle of it.
